How do I follow changes in bone mineral density?
Here is one circumstance where you do not follow T-scores. The percent change in bone mineral density is key for following treatment response or ongoing bone density loss in your patients.
Your radiologist may interpret the bone density report and may provide this number to you. If not, you may calculate it yourself, using the following formula:
[(Present BMD - Past BMD) / Past BMD] x 100 = percent change
